According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service's Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS), in 2024 there were a total 1,583,823 admissions to treatment of people aged 12 and older in the US for all substances. Of those, 115,913 admissions to treatment reported marijuana/hashish as the primary substance used. Alcohol was reported as the primary substance used in 481,398 admissions that year.
Also according to TEDS, in 2020 there were a total of 1,591,968 admissions to treatment of people aged 12 and older in the US for all substances. Of those, 146,635 reported marijuana/hashish as the primary substance used. Alcohol was reported as the primary substance used in 460,415 admissions that year.
